Traffic stop leads to an arrest and seizure of methamphetamine

On Sunday, July 6, 2025, at around 5:12 PM, a Nolan County deputy initiated a traffic stop on a multicolored Chevrolet truck for a minor infraction on State Highway 70, near CR 119 in Sweetwater.
During the course of the roadside investigation, the driver was identified as Rudolfo Velasquez, of Roscoe. The deputy subsequently obtained consent to search the vehicle, which resulted in the discovery of a significant quantity of suspected methamphetamine.
Velasquez was arrested and transported to the Nolan County jail where he was charged with the felony offense of possession of a controlled substance. The case is currently under investigation by the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and will be submitted to the 32nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office for further action.
