Visitation

The Nolan County Sheriff's Office aims to ensure that inmates held at the Nolan County Jail have sufficient opportunities for visitation and have implemented a system where you can now visit from the comfort of your home using your smart phone or home computer. Inmates who have been in custody for more than forty-eight (48) hours are eligible for visitation, provided that their visitation rights have not been suspended due to disciplinary actions.

Visitation will consist of a minimum of two (2) visits per week, each lasting at least twenty (20) minutes, one of which will be on an evening or weekend.

  • Online visits will be held daily from 9:00AM to 5:00PM.

  • In-person visits will be held daily from 9:00AM to 5:00PM.

Inmates may receive an unlimited number of remote, or in-person visits each week, with each visit lasting up to thirty (30) minutes.

The jailer overseeing visitation or a higher authority may cancel or terminate visits in the event of an emergency. All individuals intending to visit an inmate at the Nolan County Jail must adhere to following specific requirements:

Identification of Visitors

Visitors over the age of seventeen (17) must present a valid form of identification upon arrival for their visit. The identification should contain a photograph, date of birth, and it must not be expired. Failure to provide this information for a scheduled visit will result in the visit being denied, including off-site visits for which a non-refundable fee has been paid.  Additionally, any visitors suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be prohibited from visiting and may face arrest.

Minor Visitors

Visitors who are under the age of seventeen (17) must always be accompanied by an adult parent, legal guardian, or legal counsel while in the visitation area. The accompanying adult is required to present legal documentation to verify their relationship with the minor. Any disruptive behavior from visitors or children will result in a request to leave the visitation area. Small children must not be left unsupervised and should not roam freely in a manner that disrupts other visitors or facility staff. A public restroom is accessible to all  visitors.

Visitors Dress Code

Visitors are prohibited from wearing tank tops, tube tops, sheer shirts or blouses, low-cut V-neck shirts or blouses, and shorts or skirts that are more than 2 inches above the knee. Any clothing that may provoke inmates, disrupt the facility, or be perceived as defiance against staff in support of the inmates is also not permitted.

NO FOOD OR DRINKS ARE ALLOWED IN THE LOBBY

During your time in the visitation area, communication is restricted solely to the inmate you are visiting and your accompanying visitor.  Engaging with other visitors or inmates not on your schedule is strictly forbidden. Any inappropriate or offensive behavior will result in the immediate termination of your visit, and you will be required to exit the facility. Visitors must always remain seated at all times while in the visitation area.

Termination of Visits and Prohibited Items (Contraband)

Per section 38.11 of the Texas Penal Code, "Prohibited Substances and Items in Correctional Facility," certain classes of items such as alcoholic beverages, controlled substances, dangerous drugs, weapons, cell phones, cash and tobacco products could result in a felony charge and arrest if a visitor provides or possesses with intent to provide such an item to an inmate in violation of Nolan County Jail policies and rules.

Visitors may not use cellular phones or electronic devices during visitation; a violation of this rule may result in felony charges.

A visit may be terminated and visiting privileges denied, restricted or revoked if any rules or regulations are violated by the visitor or inmate.

Items left out in the lobby or vehicles are left there at your own risk. The Nolan County Sheriff's Office and its employees are not and will not be responsible for the safekeeping of your property left in the public lobby or outside in a vehicle. Lockers are provided in the lobby.

Other visitation Guidelines and information

Inmates and visitors are subject to video and audio recording while in the visitation area. An inmate can refuse visitation and does not have to supply a reason for their refusal. Family and friends may deposit funds into the inmate's commissary account at the Kiosk located in the lobby of the Nolan County Sheriff's Office & Jail.

Exceptions to Visitation Guidelines

Law enforcement and other authorized professionals, such as attorneys, clergy, and court-appointed guardians, are permitted to visit daily during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Professional visits do not need to be scheduled in advance, but a phone call to confirm the inmate's availability can help avoid unnecessary trips. The time spent during these professional visits will not count against the inmate's regular visiting hours for the week. Professional visitors such as attorneys, clergy, court appointed guardians, are required to present valid credentials and identification, and must adhere to all regulations regarding conduct, contraband, and clothing, just as any other visitor.

Veteran Service Officer and Peer Service Coordinator Visits
At any reasonable time, with proper identification paperwork correlating with the profession, a veterans county service officer or peer service coordinator may visit an inmate whose veteran status has been verified. There is no cost to the inmate for these visits, and they do not count against the inmate’s two standard weekly visits.
