The Nolan County Sheriff’s Office hosted its 3rd Annual Trunk or Treat on Tuesday, October 28, bringing together local businesses, first responders, and residents for an evening of fun, safety, and community engagement. The event transformed the parking area into a vibrant gathering filled with laughter, excitement, and festive costumes, creating lasting memories for all.

A wide range of organizations contributed to the event’s success, each setting up themed displays and treat stations. Participants included Roscoe Trailer Rentals, the Lake Sweetwater and Roscoe Volunteer Fire Departments, Sweetwater Police Department, Sweetwater Animal Control, Nolan County Justice of the Peace, Amateur Radio Operators, the Garage Monkey Junkies Car Club, and members of the local community. Each group decorated their space, handed out candy, and interacted with families, reinforcing the event’s welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.

The evening was marked by creative costumes, themed vehicle displays, and a lively crowd of ghouls, goblins, and other costumed characters. A crowd favorite was the appearance of “Hannibal,” who despite being bound in shackles and chains delighted attendees by distributing candy to children, adding a playful and memorable touch to the night.

After all the excitement, Ms. Fresh Twist LLC helped keep spirits high by serving their signature ice-cold lemonades, coffee, hot chocolate, and other refreshments.

Sheriff James Villanueva commended his team’s hard work and dedication, stating, “The staff here did an exceptional job organizing the event to create a safe, enjoyable, and festive environment for all. It not only provided plenty of candy and entertainment but also reinforced the importance of community spirit.”

Sheriff Villanueva and the staff at the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office extend a great big thank you to all public safety and community partners for their support, and to everyone who came out and joined them for this year’s Trunk or Treat event.

The continued success of the Trunk or Treat event highlights the strong bonds within Nolan County and the value of collaboration among local organizations. Events like this exemplify how the community can come together to celebrate safely while building connections that strengthen and uplift the county as a whole.
