On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at approximately 4:30pm, a report of a stolen RV prompted the stop of a Dodge pickup on Interstate 20 that led to the arrest of a Fort Worth man, the recovery of the stolen RV and seizure of suspected methamphetamine and paraphernalia.

The incident unfolded when deputies with the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist the Sweetwater Police Department, in locating an RV that had been reported stolen from a residence in Sweetwater.

Within minutes of receiving the report, a deputy located the stolen RV being towed by a silver Dodge truck on Interstate 20. The deputy conducted a traffic stop near the Taylor County line, and the male driver who was identified as George Torres was immediately taken into custody.

During the roadside investigation, the RV was confirmed as stolen, and a subsequent search of the pickup led to the discovery of suspected methamphetamine and related paraphernalia.

Torres was transported to the Nolan County jail, where he faces felony charges for theft of property and possession of a controlled substance. This case is currently under investigation by the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and will be submitted to the 32nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office for further action.
