Being a correctional officer requires not only a unique set of skills but also an immense amount of courage and resilience. These dedicated professionals work tirelessly under challenging conditions, often facing risks that go unnoticed by the broader public. Each day, correctional officers put their lives on the line, managing situations that can turn dangerous in an instant all while being outnumbered and without the support of weapons.

The public rarely hears about the frequent assaults endured by these officers, a stark reality that underscores their bravery. As we observe National Correctional Officer Week, let us take a moment to recognize the unwavering commitment and exceptional heroism of correctional officers across our nation, many of whom work diligently behind the scenes, making significant sacrifices for the safety and security of our communities.
