Fugitive apprehended after brief foot pursuit

On Tuesday, March 22, 2016, a Nolan County deputy that was following a lead on the whereabouts of Roman Angelo Royal, a fugitive believed to be armed, observed a vehicle leave the immediate area, where Royal was believed to be. The vehicle was driven by Edward Blake Montemayor, of Sweetwater who was accompanied by an unknown male passenger that he dropped off in the 1100 block of Elm Street. After being contacted there by deputies, the male subject who was immediately recognized to be Royal, fled the area on foot and ran into a residence located in the 1000 block of Fowler. Deputies, then assisted by members of the Sweetwater Police Department and Department of Public Safety, made entry into the residence where Royal was found hiding inside a bedroom and taken into custody without incident.
