On the morning of Monday, July 7, 2025, deputies from the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office received a report indicating that officers with the Snyder Police Department were pursuing a vehicle traveling south on US Highway 84. Deputies immediately responded to the scene and deployed spike strips that successfully deflated the tires of the fleeing vehicle.
Following the vehicle's breakdown, the driver, Rodney Arriola, attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by deputies and officers with the Snyder Police Department. A female passenger, identified as Samantha Lawhon, was taken into custody alongside the driver.
During the roadside investigation, Arriola and Lawhon were found to have outstanding warrants and both were transported to the Nolan County jail. Arriola faces an additional felony charge for evading arrest in a vehicle, while Lawhon is charged with the warrant.
