Sheriff James Villanueva officially welcomed two new Deputy Sheriffs, Kent McAnally and Maria Martinez, during a swearing-in ceremony on Friday, June 20, 2025. Surrounded by family and colleagues, both deputies took their oaths and received their badges, marking a significant milestone in their law enforcement careers.

Prior to this appointment, McAnally and Martinez served as jailers at the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office and successfully completed their training at the West Central Texas Law Enforcement Academy, where they gained knowledge in various critical areas such as criminal and traffic law, criminal investigation, drug and narcotics investigation, firearms proficiency, professional vehicle operations, physical tactics, crash investigation, domestic violence and sexual assault, standardized field sobriety testing, and crime prevention.

McAnally and Martinez will be assigned to the Patrol Division and as they transition into their new roles, both will undergo a comprehensive field training program aimed at ensuring they function in a safe, skillful, and professional manner while serving the community of Nolan County.
We are proud of Deputy Sheriff McAnally and Deputy Sheriff Martinez and are excited to have them join our patrol team. We wish them the best and look forward to their service.
Welcome to the LEO family.
