Sheriff Villanueva swears in new Detention Officer

On Monday, September 15, 2025, Sheriff James Villanueva administered the oath of office to Hanna Vera, officially welcoming her as a Detention Officer at the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office.

A Sweetwater native and graduate of Sweetwater High School, Hanna is proudly following in the footsteps of her father, Israel Vera, who serves as a Sergeant in the jail. Her mother, Monica Vera, is also part of the team, serving as the Kitchen Manager at the facility.

In a touching moment during the ceremony, Sergeant Vera had the honor of pinning his daughter’s badge.

Surrounded by her proud parents and new colleagues, Hanna took the first step in her law enforcement career during a special ceremony. We’re proud to welcome Hanna Vera to the team and wish her the very best as she begins this important role in service to our community.
