Thirty cadets graduated last night from the West Central Texas Law Enforcement Academy after successfully completing a 31-week, 720-hour Basic Peace Officer Course that began in November, last year. The cadets were part of Classes 105 and 106 and represented numerous law enforcement agencies across West Central Texas, including the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office and Sweetwater Police Department.

Among the graduates, we are especially proud of two of the cadets, Kent McAnally and Maria Martinez.

As they transition into their roles as commissioned Texas peace officers, our two newest deputies will undergo a three to four month field training program. During this phase, they will ride alongside a field training officer, receiving weekly evaluations to ensure they are fully prepared to serve and protect the citizens and visitors alike, of Nolan County.

Chief Deputy Brock Carter, Cadets Kent McAnally and Maria Martinez, Nolan County Sheriff James E. Villanueva, and Retired Nolan County Sheriff David Warren.
