Traffic Stop leads to two arrests and seizure of suspected marijuana and paraphernalia

On Monday, August 29, 2016, a Nolan County deputy stopped a white sedan in the 2100 block of Lamar for a minor traffic infraction. Contact was made with the driver, D’Jaman West, of San Antonio who was accompanied by passenger, Elita Williams, of Sweetwater. During a roadside investigation, the deputy detected indicators of criminal activity, which later led to the discovery of a substantial quantity of suspected marijuana that was concealed within the vehicle; also located was paraphernalia used in its consumption. Assisting the deputy in the traffic stop were DPS, Colorado City and Sweetwater Police units. Mr. West and Ms. Williams were both arrested and transported to the Nolan County jail where they were charged with the felony offense of possession of marijuana. This case will be filed with the 32nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
